There are many ways that you can damage your car due to unforeseen events and mishaps. These small incidents can cost you a fortune if you get it repaired in an auto shop, and can devastate your finances. Luckily, there are several smart ways to remedy these small damages without breaking the bank. If you’re on a tight budget, you can buy yourself some time before making a trip to the repair shop.
Here are some inexpensive ideas that you can try. Chances are, you already have all the things that you need in your house.
Use Sanitizer on Frozen Doors
During the winter season, it’s common to find people having a hard time opening their car doors because it’s frozen solid. This may seem like a small problem but the reality is that you can get stuck outdoors if you don’t do something about it quickly. A great way to remedy this is to use a hand sanitizer that is alcohol-based to help you with the frozen door.
Clean Headlights with Toothpaste
The car’s headlights are essential and you need to have it functioning at its best all the time. However, due to dirt, dust and the weather, they can easily be clouded which can affect their performance. As you already know, replacing your headlights can be quite expensive, but there’s a cheaper way to go about this by using your toothpaste.
What you need to do is clean your headlights with a rug or brush that has toothpaste on it. Wipe your headlights with the material and it will reveal a cleaner set that looks like new.
Fill-in Windshield Cracks with Nail Polish
Every time you drive out, there are chances that your windshield can get damaged by small debris. These instances can lead to a cracked windshield that can grow overtime. Windshields are not cheap and they can be difficult to replace leading to higher labor costs. To prevent small cracks from getting bigger, what you can do is fill in the cracks with clear nail polish. You can do this once a month until you get the money to pay for a new windshield.
Use Olive Oil to Polish Your Dashboard
Your dashboard can get dirty over time with all the road trips that you have around the year. Dust and dirt can accumulate on your dashboard making it look ugly and decreasing your car’s overall appearance. If you don’t want to use harmful chemicals that you buy from auto supplies, you can use olive oil that you have around the house to clean it. Put a little bit of olive oil on your dashboard and use a coffee filter to polish it.
These remedies are helpful but what you really need is car insurance that can give you peace of mind that your car is in good hands.
