Usual first-time buyers are not aware that fireproofing a home is a must until a fire breaks out and turns their investment property into ashes. A homeowner should be responsible for preventing such disasters; and in this case, fire. These seven tips are needed to ensure the preservation of your home from being burned down. Have a Fire Extinguisher Handy
Regardless if it’s inside or outside, a house must have a fire extinguisher. Families spend their summertime cooking barbecue or gather around with a bonfire in the middle. The fire extinguisher is needed should any activity involving bodies of flame gets out of hand. While water hoses can also kill the fire, an extinguisher is handier and easier to use. Be Aware of Potential Fire Hazards Keeping the flames near the house or the garden while barbecuing or making a bonfire is a surefire recipe for disaster. One must keep the distance of any potential fire hazards from the mentioned places. Also, one should not place anything with bodies of fire on the ground for it might trigger disaster. Fireproof Your Furniture Applying fireproof chemicals on outside furniture will greatly prevent the fire from growing out of control. Also, it helps preserve the equipment itself. However, other outside furniture may be treated with the chemical, so make sure to inquire from its respective manufacturers. Be Wary of Using Candles Outside candles provide additional lighting at night and prevent insects and pests from entering the household. However, deem it necessary not to leave the candle unattended, for it may also cause a very expensive fire. Unnecessary Home Furniture and Fittings Families declutter their homes to make it more spacious. This is also a great strategy for those who are fireproofing their homes. With fewer flammable materials comes lesser chances of a fire to thoroughly break out inside the house. Install Smoke Alarms It is important to have at least one smoke alarm inside the house. Also, make sure to regularly replace batteries of the device and check if it is working. Doing so serves as a precautionary measure against such disaster. Check Your Electrical Wiring Do you know that overloading your outlets can also result in a fire? Make sure to use a power strip or a surge protector whenever you need to use multiple appliances. Despite these tips, there are some circumstances that are beyond our control. Nevertheless, you can still protect yourself and your properties by buying insurance. Thanks for sharing this helpful information. Keeping your dryer vent clean is another great way to help fire proof your house. We've seen dryer vents that I can't believe didn't catch on fire. Many people forget about this, but it's SO important.

This is an important article everyone should read. I read somewhere that solar panels are dangerous when a home is on fire, do you know anything about this? Apparently they melt and firefighters need to watch out for them.
