Did you recently buy a car?  Or did you just have your car repainted?  If you want to keep your car looking new, there's no secret to it.  You have to put in the work. It takes time and effort to keep a showroom shine, but it is possible, even for us.  Consistency is the key to make that shine last. Here are 3 steps to keep your car shiny and looking brand new.
Keep it clean

The first step is also the first test if you are able to keep your shine.  Keeping your car clean and avoiding stains is the first step. Regularly wash your car, at least once a week.  You may need to wash it more often depending on how dirty your car gets. It is important to use the right soap.  Never use detergent or dishwashing soap as this is corrosive for your paint. Use specialized car shampoo. If you're using a pressure washer, keep a good distance to avoid damaging the coat as well.

Always wipe down the car with a soft cloth, preferably a microfiber cloth.  Letting it air dry will create water spots. Over time, this can be difficult to remove.  Always wipe out bird droppings as soon as possible. Keep wet tissues in the car and use it to wipe off the bird droppings.

Treat scratches right away

It is inevitable that your car will receive some scratches.  Anywhere you go there is a great risk for contact that can scratch our car.  From our fingernails, to keys, to other cars, to railings or any obstruction, these can be targets of our moving car.  It is important to fix a scratch right away. Especially deep scratches that exposes the metal. You leave it unprotected to develop rust if exposed for too long.

For shallow scratches, use touch up paint and finish it off with rubbing compound.  For deeper scratches, you will need to sand it down. Sand the area and apply primer before coating it again.

Use the right product

Waxes and sealants are a great way to protect your coat for a long period of time.  Make sure to use product that is compatible with the paint used in your car. Paint conditioners and clay are all recommended especially for new coats.

Starting early and maintaining your car will ensure it is protected from rust and aging.  In the same way, the right insurance coverage can protect your car from unseen events. At Robert Nichols Insurance Group, we aim to provide comprehensive insurance policies that makes your life easier. Every car owner want his car to look like new. Therefore it is urgently needed to protect the car paint so that car will look like new. The first step is to keep the car clean & to avoid stains. The car must be washed at least once a week. The deep scratches made on the car should be treated right away. For shallow scratches we should use touch up paint and finish it up with a rubbing compound. Paint protection film is to be applied on the paint to protect it from stone chips, bug splatters and minor abrasions. Waxes & sealant can protect the paint for a longer period of time.
